Kahn Prize for epilepsy research goes to Prof Stephan Rüegg and Prof Andrea Rossetti

This year's prestigious research prize was awarded to two neurologists who have rendered outstanding services to the Swiss Epilepsy League, among others.

The prestigious research prize, which honours outstanding scientific achievements in the field of epilepsy research, was awarded this year to two neurologists who have rendered outstanding services to the Swiss Epilepsy League, among others. The prize, endowed with CHF 10,000 each, was presented at the 30th annual conference of the German-Austrian-Swiss Epilepsy Working Group, which took place from 3 to 5 October 2024 in Montreux on Lake Geneva.

Prof Stephan Rüegg is Head of the Epilepsy and Sleep Unit at the University Hospital Basel. He is also co-chair of the Epilepsy Panel of the European Academy of Neurology and has published numerous papers on status epilepticus, drug treatment of epilepsy and autoimmune brain inflammation.

Prof. Andrea Rossetti is responsible for the epilepsy department at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois (CHUV) in Lausanne. In his research activities, he is primarily concerned with the treatment of status epilepticus (prolonged epileptic seizures) and epilepsy/electroencephalography (EEG) in the intensive care unit.
