International Women's Day 2025: Further strengthening equal opportunities in neurology

07.03.2025

On International Women's Day, 8 March 2024, we celebrate the achievements of women in medicine - and at the same time work to further improve equal opportunities and career opportunities for female neurologists.

Women in Neurology (WIN) was founded in 2020 as an official association of the Swiss Neurological Society (SNS) to provide targeted support for female neurologists in their careers. It networks female doctors in further training and neurologists in management positions, promotes professional exchange and actively advocates for greater transparency in job appointments and remuneration.

Although important progress has already been made, challenges remain - particularly in terms of access to management positions and equalisation of framework conditions. To overcome these, WIN offers a structured mentoring programme that includes both one-to-one mentoring and peer mentoring. The aim of the programme is to promote the exchange of knowledge and experience between experienced neurologists and junior staff, thereby strengthening individual career development in a targeted manner.

Our aim is to build a strong network for female neurologists, promote careers and remove structural barriers.
